Notes to the Schedule of Fees 2012

  1. The tuition fee excludes; stationery for existing students, school uniform, private tests or tuition, some sports equipment and class materials (e.g. camera)
  2. Short term placements for a minimum of two weeks are accepted as class places permit.
  3. Student Care Fees

Middleton Grange School provides a high quality of pastoral care and support for all students. If a student is living with a designated caregiver (close family friend or relative) or their parents have contracted and external care provider (guardian), we expect that more of this care will be undertaken by these people and the student care fee is reduced to $500 per year. Student care fees cover the cost of orientation, monitoring and continuous support for our students and the liaison with their homestay, care providers and designated caregivers.

Designated Caregiver: this is a family relative or close family friend. Students are permitted to live with this person but it is at the discretion of the school to determine if this status is applicable.

Care Provider (guardian): this is a person parents have contracted to care for their child while the child is studying at Middleton Grange School. This is an arrangement between the parents and the care provider.

  4. Health and Travel Insurance. Most international students are not entitled to   publicly funded health services while in New Zealand. If you receive medical treatment during your visit, you may be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly-funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health and can be viewed on their website at http://www.moh.govt.nz. The Ministry of Education Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students requires all students to have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying and travelling to/from New Zealand.  It is a condition of enrolment that you have a comprehensive Unicare policy purchased by Middleton Grange on your behalf. Parents, agents and pupils must check the conditions of the Unicare policy as it is a minimum requirement only and it may be necessary to purchase “top-up” insurance. There is no refund for medical insurance once arranged,

5. NCEA Fees. NCEA Fees are charged by the New Zealand Qualfications Authority (NZQA) for the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA). This is the national qualification that successful students will achieve each year in the Senior College. The cost is calculated by NZQA on an annual basis and for 2012 is approximately $383.30. You will be invoiced for this with all other fees. If a student is sitting additional examinations for Scholarship in Year 13, an additional cost of $100 is charged, however the International College will be pleased to pay this Scholarship Fee provided the student has been recommended by their subject teacher.
